NPU Dragomanova

National Pedagogical Dragomanov University is a public higher education institution accredited by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, specialized on teacher training, as well as social work, law, political science, economics, ecology, design, translation, tourism, management, sociology, psychology, philosophy etc. The university prepares students in all forms of training (full-time education, evening studying, extramural studies, external studies, parallel, distance learning) and all levels (Bachelor, Master, PhD). Since 2006, as part of integrating in Bologna process the university has successfully adopted European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) which has made its diplomas officially recognized in European education space.

The university was formed in the XIX century as St. Volodymyr University's Pedagogical Institute and had undergone numerous transformations throughout the flow of Ukraine's turbulent history, changing names and further growing in form and importance. During the university’s rich more than 180 years long history, it became an Alma mater for many prominent personalities of the country’s scientific and political life and is now known both in Ukraine and abroad. National Pedagogical Dragomanov University has entebred the post-industrial age with the idea of worldwide cooperation to a new level in the interests of sharing the institution’s knowledge and thoughts on the role of the 21d-st century teacher, as well as learning more from the outside, ready to develop through worldwide scientific connections.

Currently, National Pedagogical Dragomanov offers its diverse educational possibilities to more than 16.000 students from all over Ukraine, as well as students from abroad, under guidance of 2.500 teachers, 700 of whom have a PhD degree and almost 300 are Doctors of Science. The number of foreign students grows annually, having increased from 27 people in 2005 to more than 500 students yearly today.

To provide comfortable learning and convenience of visiting the university, aside from the central building with modern technologies-equipped classrooms, NPDU has specialized university buildings, scientific libraries with a total of about 1.000.000 books and 170.000 periodicals, sports building with gyms and pools, Cultural Arts Center, media center of e-learning, as well as easily accessible student dormitories throughout the city of Kyiv with student cantinas and internet cafes.

National Pedagogical Dragomanov University has an extensive network of cooperation with leading universities and research institutions of Germany, Sweden, China, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic and many others. Each year about 200 teachers and students of National Pedagogical Dragomanov University are trained in foreign partner universities. There are currently 87 partner agreements that result in organizing mutual academic exchanges, giving birth to joint scientific projects and claiming membership in various international organizations, the most commendable of which is International Association of Rectors of Pedagogical Universities in Europe that the rector of the university, Viktor Andrushchenko, is a president of.
